Ray Shuey

Ray has focused his strategic management and planning skills to bring about positive, sustainable, organisational and community cultural change providing practical, realistic and cost effective solutions to critical issues. He is a former Assistant Commissioner of Police in Victoria having held that position for fourteen years until July 2003.   Overall, he has had 41 years of experience in law enforcement.

Ray is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management, a Fellow of the Institute of Public Administration Australia and an Associate Fellow of the Australasian College of Road Safety. He is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police and a member of the International Police Association. Ray holds a Bachelor of Arts (Monash Uni), a Diploma of Criminology (Melbourne Uni) and a Diploma of Police Studies. He was project leader in 1994 for the internationally recognised and nationally acclaimed "Project Beacon", an operational safety, cultural change management program for Victoria Police.

In 2000, he was joint operations commander for the World Economic Forum in Melbourne. In 1996 he was awarded the Australian Police medal for distinguished police service. He also holds the National Police Medal and Double Bar and the Victoria Police Service Medal (with 40 year clasp) for diligent and ethical service. He also served in Vietnam during the "Tet Offensive" in 1968, and was awarded the Vietnamese Campaign Medal for service overseas.  In 2003, he received an award for outstanding service in supporting the cause of effective law enforcement in Charlestown, South Carolina as well as another award by the Egyptian Federation of Australia for excellent service and support to the Australian Multicultural Community. In July 2004, he was presented with an award for outstanding service to road safety Victoria by the Ministerial Council for Road Safety.   Ray is committed to achieving best practice solutions in a positive and practical manner.   rayshuey@strategicsafety.com.au
